WHS had 5 of our best and brightest in the Miss Irish Rose Scholarship Pageant today in Shamrock. Harlee Gomez finished as the 1st runner up, Summer Neufeld made the top ten and was named Most Photogenic, Audrey Jones made the top ten and Ava Garcia and Mallory O'Rear were stunning contestants. Thanks to all five for representing Wellington so well! π

In less than 24 hours, the Wellington community raised $1150 for our friends in Canadian that were impacted by the wildfires. WHS Principal, Jermaine Cantu, presented the checks and cash to CHS Principal, James Bryant at the track meets today in Canadian. ππ―β€οΈπ€πβ€οΈ

In conjunction with community member Karen Caldwell, the Wellington High School Student Council will be donating money to benefit fire victims in Canadian. The WHS Student Council will donate $200, but if you feel led to donate please contact Jermaine Cantu at the high school or Karen Caldwell as we would like to take our donations tomorrow afternoon in time for the junior high track meet Canadian is hosting. You can bring cash to the school or to Karen at the museum. If you are writing a check, please make it to Darlene Walker, Canadian High School Counselor. With Facebook down this morning, we weren't able to send our well wishes to the Rocket Regiment as they competed in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest today in Panhandle. Not only did the band due a fantastic job marching 15th Street to send our Lady Rockets off last week, but they also put in extra practices to prepare for today. While the results are not what we wanted, we especially want to thank our four seniors for their leadership to the band since they have been in 8th grade. Thanks Kali Brewer, Cece Granadoz, Cortlyn McKinley and Addy Mock. Thanks also to Mr. Mixon and Mrs. Warrick for all you do for our bands. We are always proud of you Rocket Regiment!

Our Lady Rocket golf team has been busy the last week. Today, we competed in Canyon at the 2A Regional preview finishing 2nd as a team. Individually, Allie Duncan led the way finishing in a tie for 6th place. On the team with Allie includes Kaitlin Bawcom, Kendra Bawcom, Emma Flores, Brynlee Proffitt, Maggie Tillman and Briley Waters. Last week, our Lady Rockets won the Amarillo Highland Park Invitational with Allie Duncan earning 1st place and Kendra Bawcom tieing for 2nd. Also on the team in Amarillo was Emma Flores, Ava Garcia and Maggie Tillman. Great start to the season Lady Rockets!

Lady Rockets end a tremendous season falling just short to Nacona 40 to 42 in the state semifinal game at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Thanks for giving us great memories this season.
