After losing a one point nail-biter in Jayton yesterday in the opening game followed by a 34 to 41 loss in game two, Rockets rebound to win two games in the Jayton Tournament today. We defeated O'Donnell this morning at 9am by a final score of 39 to 28 and Seagraves by a final score of 45 to 42 at 5pm. Rockets finish the Jayton tournament with a 2-2 record and will return to district action Tuesday at home against Clarendon. Lady Rockets finish the Childress Tournament with a big 51 to 35 win over the Childress Lady Cats. Lady Rockets fell to Lubbock Christian this morning in the championship game by a final score of 37 to 49. Lady Rockets finish in 2nd place in the Childress Tournament with a 3-1 tournament record and will open district play on Tuesday with home games with JV starting at 5:00pm.
Rockets win over 4A Borger by a final score of 56 to 50 to end the Childress tournament. In action yesterday, our Rockets lost at the buzzer to Childress by 2 and lost another close one to Vernon.
The JV boys played in Canadian today and defeated Perryton 48 to 40 but fell to Pampa 37 to 56.

Lady Rockets have won both of their games in the Childress Tournament thus far over two different 3A teams. On Thursday, we took down Iowa Park 44 to 27 and defeated Vernon 67 to 23 today. Rockets went 4-1 in the Nazareth Tournament ending the tourney with a huge win over the tournament host and state ranked Nazareth Swifts in the consolation championship by a final score of 47 to 40. Wellington ISD's very own Cathy Cantu Andrews walked the stage tonight earning her Associate's of science degree from Clarendon College. Cathy is currently a paraprofessional and counselor's secretary at Wellington High School. We tell our students at WHS every day over the announcements that after WHS comes college, military or trade school. Today that has become reality for Ms. Andrews and we are very proud!
