Mrs. Ashmore’s 6th period seniors read “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge this week. This epic poem examines the burden of an albatross that the main character carries around his neck. These students drew a visual representation of a burden that each of them carry at this time in their lives. Then they explained their burden in a paragraph and hung it around their necks.
Pictured from left to right are Caleb Weinette, Blake Strickland, Summer Owens, Miranda Granadoz, Hunter Stark, Noah Wright, Makaila Granadoz, Arianna Pena, Rileigh Henard, Angela Molina, Asia Shrubs, Barret Phillips, and Corni Klassen. Not pictured is Jordan Nation, but Barret carried his burden for him during the picture.

Our WHS gifted and talented students went on their annual field-trip. This year, our GT coordinator, Renessa Klink, and science teacher Brandi Weinette took them to Blind Bird Designs in Amarillo where each student got to create a glass blowing project. Their finished projects were amazing as they learned a lot in the process.
