At the State VASE competition over the weekend, WHS Senior, Angela Molina, got a 4 on her piece. After placing 5th in the 3200 at the regional track meet in Canyon on Friday, WHS junior, Addy Mock made the long trip to San Marcos and earned 4’s on both of her pieces.  Sophomore, Jaci Porter, also represented us very well. 4 is the highest score when judged.  Angela and Addy got a gold medal and are state winners. 31,000 pieces from throughout Texas competed in Vase with only 2,000 pieces chosen for State. Congratulations Angela, Addy, Jaci and art teacher Marnie Kane! 🚀🎨🏅🚀

The boys 4x200 meter relay team of Travon Lewis, Jordan Nation, Demarcus Lewis and Anthony Ortiz finished as the 3rd place bronze medalist just narrowly missing 2nd place at the Region 1-AA track meet in Canyon today. Congratulations guys! 🚀🥉🚀

Congratulations to WHS junior, Kaitlin Bawcom, for winning the 3rd 🥉 place bronze medal in discus at the Region 1-AA track meet held on the campus of WTAMU today. Kaitlin is our only medalist thus far and just narrowly missed advancing to state! 🚀🚀🚀

We have WHS students going in different directions all over Texas today! We want to wish the best of luck to our esports team as they begin competing this morning in Arlington at the state esports competition. Good luck Nixon Folk, Jontae Roland, Caleb Strickland and Carson Tarver! Our State VASE girls will be leaving this morning for San Marcos for the State Vase Competition. Good luck to Addy Mock, Angela Molina, and Jaci Porter. Finally, best of luck to all our track athletes who are leaving to compete in the regional track meet in Canyon today and tomorrow! The Wellington FFA Land Judging Team competed at the state land judging contest today held on the Tarleton State campus in Stephenville. The team placed 25th in the State and 3rd in the area. Barret Phillips placed 28th in the State and 3rd in the Area. Heather Peters, Trenton Wright, and Summer Owens also competed. They were coached by Drew Taylor. 🚀🚀🚀

Skyrocket baseball game will host a second place seeding game against the Memphis Cyclones on Monday, May 1st. 🚀⚾️🚀

Skyrocket baseball takes down the Shamrock Irish 12 to 0 on the road tonight. Rockets will have a second place seeding game against Memphis later this week. 🚀⚾️🚀

Wellington FFA members Barret Phillips and Summer Owens participated in the State FFA scholarship interviews held on the WTAMU campus in Canyon today. 🚀🚀🚀

2022 Little Miss Wellington Perrie Reyna, 2022 Junior Miss Wellington Ava Kate Inman and 2022 Teen Miss Wellington Maggie Tillman will pass on their crowns today starting at 2pm in the WHS Auditorium. Cost of admission is $5 per person for every school aged person on up. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for WHS students. Come out and support all the brave girls today!

The cast and crew of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein finished as the state alternate 3rd place play at the regional one act play competition at Randall High School today. We are so proud of all you have accomplished WHS OAP! 🚀🎭🚀 Winning a technical award was Brianna Aguerro. Honorable mention all-star cast was Jackson Jones. All-star cast was Summer Neufeld and Kaseten Welch. The play is under the direction of Lana Tillman with help from Megan Cardenas and Harley Warrick. Final results included Christoval 1st regional champion Bangs 2nd regional runner-up Wellington 3rd state alternate Panhandle 4th Ropes 5th Olton 6th

The Wellington FFA cotton judging team competed at the state cotton judging contest at Texas Tech in Lubbock today. The team consisted of Hunter Stark, Jossaline Moreno, Kenady Skelton and Barret Phillips.

Break a leg WHS One Act Play. Regional competition is TODAY starting at noon at Randall High School. Plays will run back to back so our kids should take the stage between 3 and 4. Go Rockets! 🚀🎭🚀

We had an extremely busy week at WHS and it's not over yet. On Thursday, the Collingsworth County 4-H placed 3rd at the District 1 Plant ID contest. The team consists of Dixon Dugan, Kenady Skelton, Christell Melendez, Emma Flores and Charlee Bodine. Congratulations! 🚀🥉🚀

All 16 regional qualifiers represented Wellington extremely well at the UIL Regional Academic Meet today at WTAMU. Congratulations to Rileigh Henard. She placed 6th in Spelling and Vocabulary!

The Regional UIL Academic Meet is underway on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Last night, the students enjoyed a meal together and fun at Cinergy.
