
Congratulations to WHS Senior, Madeleine Kane for winning the 3rd place medal at the regional tennis tournament today in Amarillo. Madeleine had a tremendous tennis career at WHS finishing as the state alternate. 🚀🎾🥉🚀





A lot of tennis was played at the regional tennis tournament today in Amarillo. Senior Madeleine Kane is our lone player left as she won her opening round match 6-3 and 6-3. In the second round, she won 6-0 and 6-0. In the semifinal match, Madeleine won the opening set 6-1 before falling in the next two 4-6 and 3-6. She will play for third place tomorrow morning. In mixed doubles, the team of Nixon Folk and Oakley Folk won in the opening round before falling to the #3 seed in round two. In girls doubles, Bryn Phillips and Charley Wilbur won their first round match before falling to the #4 seed in round two. Travon Lewis (boys singles), Carson Tarver and Presley Kane (mixed doubles) and Abby Garcia and Audrey Jones (girls doubles) lost in the opening round. All are coached by Amy Inman. The cast and crew of All My Sons will give one last public performance this Sunday, May 12th at 3pm in the WHS Auditorium. Come enjoy a great show before this group leaves for Austin Monday morning. They will take the stage in Austin after 3pm on Tuesday, May 14th in hopes of becoming the first play in school history to bring home some hardware. Let's go OAP! 🚀🚀🚀

WHS and WJH GT students traveled to Lubbock today to visit the Texas Tech Museum. They also got to have some fun at Adventure Park. Thanks to WHS teacher Brandi Weinette and WJH teacher Amy Henard for accompanying these students on their trip. 🚀🧨🏎️🦕











Our Lady Rockets golf team finished as one of the top eight teams in the state after two full days of competition at the Class 2A golf state championship in Austin. The team was able to tour the state capital with Superintendent Ashmore giving a tour. The team was coached by Klark Ashmore. Thanks to seniors Kaitlin and Kendra Bawcom for their leadership. The future is bright with Allie Duncan, Emma Flores, Brynlee Proffitt and Maggie Tillman returning next year. You made us proud Lady Rockets! 🚀🏌️♀️⛳️🚀

Today is the day our 2023 queens crown the 2024 winners. Teen Miss Wellington starts at 2pm with the Little Miss and Junior Miss pageants following. Cost of admission at the door will be $5 per person with all proceeds going to scholarships for WHS students.
Darrell Colson Photography will be set up in the main hallway of the high school starting at 1:30 to take amazing picture just like he captured of Teen Miss Wellington 2023 Demi Massey and 2023 Little Miss Wellington 2023 Callahan Cantu last year.
Miss Wellington 2023 Mallory O'Rear will help emcee all three pageants with help from the sophomore and junior class Presidents. Come out and support all the girls! 🚀👑






Teen Miss Wellington 2023 Demi Massey would like to remind all the girls the WHS auditorium is open from 8am to 2pm TODAY (Saturday, May 4th) for practice on your own. Pageants begin tomorrow at 2pm with admission $5 per person at the door. All proceeds benefit scholarships for WHS students. 👑



Our esports team will start their second day of competition this morning at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. The Overwatch team of Trinidad Cantu, Benji Garcia, Jacob Klassen, Jaci Porter and Jontae Roland won their opening round game before falling in rounds two and three. Our Valorant team will be playing today. 🚀🎮🚀



All of our athletes have now competed at the state track meet in Austin and while none reached the medal stand, Kaitlin Bawcom did finish in 6th place in the discus earning the Lady Rockets a point at the state track meet.
Brenden Garcia, Demarcus Lewis, Travon Lewis and Anthony Ortiz are all juniors and have the opportunity to return to the state track meet next year. We are so proud of how you represented Wellington all track season long boys and Kaitlin. 🚀



The state track meet has begun in Austin and senior Kaitlin Bawcom started throwing the discus at 9am this morning. At 6:40pm later today, our 800 meter relay team of Brenden Garcia, Demarcus Lewis, Travon Lewis and Anthony Ortiz will run on the big stage.
